Very nice setup bud. My tastes vary from yours on some things more the knives than anything else....but the bush baby is an outstanding knife, I prefer a tracker, along with three others I carry minimal gear, long distance is my thing so some heavier gear is more out of necessity than anything else, like you said we use what we are comfortable with. Hope to see you out lurking in the woods sometime, be well my friend
I can build one better for alot cheaper
Again, having a light is good for emergencies such as caves but if shtf they can give away your position making you a target from far away.
I don’t buy into the shtf scenarios, most guys who make videos on that are former military guys that try to push their ideologies to civilians making them think they’re gonna be fighting a war in their backyard acting like Rambo. I stick with real world applications and don’t do “what’s cool” just to get views. Likelihood That you’re gonna be in a E&E situation and can’t use a light is practically zero. Likelihood of you being in the woods past dark and need a light is 100% if you camp, hunt, ect.
@@buckeyebushcraft I'm no youtuber or a vet but I was in a place where Russian bombers flew over Texas.
I don't use the Grayl because the filters don't last as long as the Sawyers straws do, and they take up too much space.
2nd watch. Good job!
What if you took a pant leg and made a little pouch for the pole pieces? I bet that would work. I did that for our marshmallow roasting sticks to keep them together.
I like the suggestions. Helps get me thinking and maybe some ideas I wouldn’t have thought about.
I like this set up and just the peacefulness.. great work!
Something I noticed in the first several seconds. An experienced woodsman doesn't step blindly over obstacles like logs. He keeps an eye out for snakes. Take my advice and don't learn it by experience.
Didn’t know snakes were out in the dead of winter…. An experienced woodsman would know if there are venomous snakes in the bio region they’re operating in. In my case there’s not….
@@buckeyebushcraft That's fair. I'm in AZ. I keep snakes in mind here, even on warm winter days.
Good job. I like the way you keep it simple.
Absolutely gorgeous episode man, this looks and feels amazing!
I appreciate the feedback!
Nice and simple set-up. Excellent video. Oh!!! Nice copper cuff your wearing 😉
Nice outing…with all the deadfall in the area did you really need to cut down a living tree for four tent pegs??? Have fun stay safe.
Quick chopsticks Jeje.. Great vid Bro
Good stuff, I really like this low impact, minimalist style of overnighters. The more you know, the less you need, I cant agree with you more about havin snow lol. I'm born and raised in NC and have probably spent more time in the woods and around them more than anywhere else. I thought I just had bad luck when it came to the bugs of summer lol, its terrible here too between the ticks, mosquitoes and chiggers. I've finally gotten to the point I quit buyin repellents because it just seems to be a waste of money. But one thing that has seemed to work decent is buyin those collars made for pets. I normally tuck my pant legs in my boots and put the collars around the top of your boots. Was told to never have direct contact with the skin. But gettin back to the kit, I've been tryin to build out smaller and smaller kits, I'm down to about 3 pounds for ultra light and around 8 pounds for a similar setup you have here. I'm really into otzi the iceman and nomadic style living and have been testing out different kits to make a modern otzi kit. Anyways I've rambled on far too long, safe travels friend and god bless from ole Carolina.
Sensational brother, congratulations! Like, commented and subscribed.
Looks like a great time 👍👍😁
Good stuff Jake
Sleeping pad, what brand? TIA
Xl tube socks make a good sleeve for that type of rod
What is that big blade?
Hands down the Perfect pocket kit but Black Scout survival kit is amazing to and there's a company called Hard Case survival makes the best pocket survival kits ever
Another great video!
Great job!
Oh yeah, I have a tuff possum tool pouch, survival wallet and ridgeline organizer awesome stuff.
The backup alarm at 7 minutes and 8 minutes did it for me.... then the dogs barking....
Can’t control a dog barking hundreds of meters away… If you’re complaining about that then you need to get a life…
The only flack I have is the titanium Grayl. Man, that thing is every bit 200. And if it was the size of the 99 dollar one, I might would pull the trigger but dang. It’s smaller as you know. I’ve haven’t pulled the trigger on the 99, but I’ll probably wait until Christmas, hopefully they’ll have a deal on. I remember a couple, more like 3-4yrs ago, Grayl had a massive sale, they were like 50, 60, or 70, I’m 🤬🤬🤬 that I didn’t get it then.
I guess you could prespoon your open face with 8lb or better so you could already have that done. Mono, as you know is very easy to get memory but something like Spider Wire you don’t have to worry about memory. For those that don’t know, memory is the m that mono makes after it’s been on reel for a while. It will actually affect your casting distance unlike new line. Fishing class is over, meet you back here at 8am. 🤪🤪🤪
The fishing kit me like but I personally like the crappie mini reel the rod. When I get my set up, I’ll go for crappie and bream, panfish are better IMO, than bass. As you have say, #PP. I’m a lover of bass fishing, so I shouldn’t have to really buy panfish bait because I get it when Walmart reduces the price. Some green 1lb line is excellent for panfish.
He said, “ that’s stupid.” 😂😂😂 I don’t know who told you, I carry a 6 inch blade but I’M NOT STUPID!!!!🙃🙃🙃 It’s your 🌍, I’m just in it. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
I looked at your vid a second time and I missed the part where you put steak in ground in cased I rained. Simple but smart. 🤯🤯🤯
Pinning the saw blade down is ingenious!!!
Fantastic vid, I really appreciate you keeping it simple. The 5’c work, they will get you by. I have a similar simple 5’c keep and I get out there every chance I get. I love it, the peace and the spending time alone with HIM and allowing HIM to speak. Your Swiss knife pouch me likes, I hope you left link to some options for that. I appreciate ya for what you bring to the table. God Bless You. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
THANKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I go out some days and set camp make some lunch chill out and don’t stay the night all the time but I like to practice with my gear and see how long it takes me to get everything set up and broke down and try and find faster easier way of set up… Practice, practice, practice And I find that to be good for my mental health. Enjoy your book and the peace and quiet Jake 👍🏻
If you reverse the female buckles would this work as a side pouch for Alice rucks? I've passed on these because I've got buttpacks and plenty of pouches already.
Looks like a great pack. Brand? Great video!
Great looking pack bro.
I really enjoyed this video. And I appreciate your authenticity in demonstrating exactly what you’re saying; that good gear lasts. But an abundance of it isn’t necessary to enjoy being in nature. (ie. the absence of a spoon did not deter your enjoyment of the meal.)
Great video! Truth that actions speak louder than words.
I love minimalist kits! Nice 90% ASMR and 10% talk.
Great video
